How Does Gender Affect the Teaching Profession?

Gender has a huge effect on the teaching profession, in my opinion. You don’t see many males within the profession in the younger years of schooling. After many news stories and cases, many male teachers just stick to coaching and try to stay away from the classroom setting. The point of view of a teacher is so cliché, because I don’t think one gender is better than another and all genders are capable of being great teachers without being viewed as inappropriate towards their students because they care more than others within their workspace. Out of all my years of attending public school pre-k – 12 th grade, I can count on one hand how many male teachers I’ve had. When I did have a male teacher, it was usually for electives or sports, rarely core subjects. I didn’t start to get male teachers in core subjects until college.
